History

Colour Catcher was invented by Pat McNamee[5] at Irish company Punch industries in the year 1993. The product was created in Punch Industries' labs at Little Island, Co.Cork. The product range is currently an international best-seller, and the market leader in colour protection.[6]

Product description

Colour Catcher products prevent colour runs in washing machine cycles and allows coloured and whites being washed together without incurring in unpleasant color run accidents. The sheet (Colour Catcher is sold in sheets) attracts the excess dyes released during the washing process by garments and absorbs them, before they have the ability to transfer onto other clothes. At the end of the wash the sheets change colour giving the proof of the dye absorption, while the garments maintain their original colour brightness. There are several other products under the Colour Catcher name, including an oxi-action stain remover and a sheet that restores and maintains clothes' whiteness.[7]

International

The Colour Catcher brand is marketed in the United States by S.C. Johnson under the Shout brand. The American product omits the "u" in colour, in accordance with American English. Colour Catcher is available in most European states. Colour Catcher is also sold internationally in Cyprus, Australia, UAE and Russia.[8]
